Trouble installing driver for Radeon HD 7870 jokerCard

I have a dual boot Windows 7/Centos 6.4. In Windows my pc is fairly quiet, but in Centos it makes a lot of noise.

Apparantly, the problem is that I haven't been able to install the correct driver for my Videocard: AMD Radeon HD 7870

I got the installer for linux at the AMD site and had it generate a package for RedHat 6 64bit.

It says after the installation I should run aticonfig --initial, but this just yields the following message: aticonfig: No supported adapters detected

    What to do?

I still have this problem. Anyone have any tips, even to at least make my Centos less noisy?
