    I installed cent os on my laptop how can i access my server online?


    i am very new on centos. I just installed centos on my laptop. how can i access my centos server from the internet from other computer from domain like server.abc.com. please help

    Since it is probably behind a firewall (router), you will either need to do some port-forwarding on the router to the server. Also, both your router and your server need static IP addresses - the router a static IP address that you would get from your ISP - the server a local network static IP (not a dhcp-assigned address) so the port forwarding can work properly.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

    i'm a bit confused: is the centos laptop also the "centos server", or is that another machine? in any case, Rubberman's advice applies.

    do you own a particular domain name (like server.abc.com), or do you just want to use some domain name, instead of an ip address (that might change on you)? if the latter, check out http://www.no-ip.com. it is a free Dynamic DNS service (or was a couple months ago). it allows you to associate your public ip address with a domain name, like machineterminator.no-ip.org or whatever. then you just have to install a DNS agent in order to keep the public ip and the domain name in sync.
