IRQ 18(try booting with irqpoll option)

When you load Redhat 5 on to a dell with IRRT (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) it will give you this error or IRQ19 and then slip into an infinite loop. It will tell you to try to boot with this options but it is a huge problem to find the boot sequence file to edit. Instead go into your ios menu and make sure that your SATA drive is set up to run in ACHI as opposed to IRRP

I can be found either 40 miles west of Chicago, in Chicago, or in a galaxy far, far away.
Good advice. I'm not sure that IRRP is supported by current Linux kernels, so falling back to ACHI is a good choice.

Anyway, welcome to the forums, and a good first advisory post!

Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
