creating two equal-sized partitions on a new ssd

I have a new 512GB ssd. How can I create two equal-sized partitions with fdisk (or some other command) so that each partition is treated as if it were a single bootable 256GB ssd?

    no problem there.

no problem there either; linux doesn't care whether partitions are on different physical devices or not.
