User gets the wrong home directory

    Hello everyone

I'm facing a strange problem with a user account. We are still using NIS for authentication and when users login and open a terminal their home directory defaults to /s/home/uclba1...uclba200.

One particular user however, when she logs in, opens a terminal and types echo $HOME the shell returns / instead of /s/home/ucla1.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

    Thank you

Maybe it was created without a home directory?
    How was the user created?
     man useradd
    And check the -m argument.
