    installing Pico on linux 9.0


    can someone help me? How do i install pico on linux 9,0?? I checked under add/remove package and cannot find it!

    pico is part of pine. nano is better though, like an enhanced pico. You should check out http://nano-editor.org.

    Pico is on the second disc
    put the second disc in the cd
    then in a term as root type
    mount /mnt/cdrom
    cd /mnt/cdrom
    ls
    then you will see a file i believe that says RED HAT or RPMS
    cd redhat or rpms #depending on whats there
    if it is redhat the once there cd to rpms
    cd rpms # you are looking for a file called pine blah blah.rpm
    cp pine blah blah.rpm /usr/local/src
    cd /usr/local/src
    rpm -ihv pine blah blah.rpm
    then a bunch of garbage will spit out and then type
    pico and off you go

    Good, I agree with you I like Pico the best.
