I have a Fedora Core 3 with KDE.
When I launch KDE, there is no sound, but if I launch the soundcard detection utility and test the sound, then that work correctly and after that, all sounds are activated.
Can anyone help me ?

Solution
Your Volume probably needs turning up. Do as follows:
GNOME
applications -> Sound & Video-> volume controll, turn everything up 2 full
KDE
applications -> Sound & Video-> aRts, turn everything up 2 full
