how to xhost +localhost from startup script?

I have a graphing application called jfreechart running under tomcat 5.57.

For the application to produce the graphs , i have to do a xhost +localhost and then start tomcat with the script.

I want Tomcat to start when the machine boots, so I wrote a script that call s jsvc, and placed it in /etc/rc.d/init.d and made the links from rc5.d to init.d

The script runs fine if i call it from a terminal window, however it refuses to xhost +localhost when it boots or when called via "service xxxx start"

Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Currently I have to log in, xhost manually, then run the service and lock the window.

I realize it's been a long time. Any luck with this issue?
