I'm having trouble in getting apmsleep to work. I've compiled my kernel with apm support recently, but it still doesn't seem to work.
I get the following error
bash-2.05b# apmsleep ...

i have the same bigdeal.
I have the same problem on Debian3.1.
There are no solution founded on the web, did you solve it?
