    Check the process


    If my RH server run very slow sudenly since a few days ago, but no any modification has made to the system in these days , the command "top" also can't check any strange process in the system , can suggest what can I check to find what is the reason to make the server run very slowly ? thx

    Check out the RAM usage via the 'top' and 'free' commands. Also, you can see every process on your machine with a 'ps -ax'.

    the RAM usage seems very high , but I can't find any strange process in the system by checking with ps , how can I know what in the problem ? thx

    top can show the most "cpu eaters" processes.

    top -Sc

    Check both memory and cpu used by the processes.

    While in 'top', hit Shift+F and then 'n'. This will tell top to sort by mem% usage.
