    "Authentification Failed" message

Hello, I'm a Linux newbie and got Red Hat 8 from eBay for $6 and wiped out my old computer with Windows 98 running a Intel Celeron. I will tell you I didn't know the copies were CD-Rs. When I try to log in, it says "Authentification failed.", so I can't get to Red Hat. Please help me!

after doing a fresh install of redhat you get authentication failed when trying to get into redhat?

did you not set up a password during the installation?

redhat 8 is pretty old to, you can get Fedora Core 3 (WAY newer) for FREE on redhat's website, just donwload and burn

but still, when you install a fresh copy of redhat it should ask you what you want for root password and what not.
