quit your x-session and in the cli type

    Code:
    echo "exec startkde" > ~/.xinitrc
    startx
you should be in your new kde environment, if not you may have to manually create the .xinitrc in your home folder, so for example if your user is john then

    Code:
    nano -w /home/genesus/john
    (hit ctl-x and save)
    echo "exec startkde" > ~/.xinitrc
    startx
    Operating System: GNU Emacs

I use FC3. I don't how autologin works (and I frown upon such a thing), but the standard way of changing your default X session in FC3 is to use the desktop switcher application. I forget exactly what it's called (switchdesk, switch-desk, desktop-switch, desktop-switcher), but running this guy will allow you to choose a default DE/WM for your user.

Or switchdesk-gui, if you have it installed.
