Unable to Open /dev/dsp and Mixer files

    Hi,
Please help me how to configure my sound card in Redhat 8.
I am getting the following error...

on adjusting the volume (in GUI mode)

Unable to open the mixer file and no rights to open it.

    on loging in GUI mode

Unable to open the /dev/dsp file.

while running the Auto Detect it has been detecting the i810_audio but while playing the TestSound I am not hearing any sound.

Please some one help me to solve it....

    Thanks

Try "chmod 666 /dev/dsp" as root. Does that help? Redhat does something cooky with soundcard permissions sometimes.
