    from their web site.

To install the Flash Player plug-in for Linux via an install script, follow the directions below. Note: This installer is script-based and cannot be run from a GUI.

    Download and uncompress install_flash_player_7_linux.tar.gz.
After uncompressing the file, a directory called install_flash_player_7_linux is created. Navigate to this directory.
From the command line, type ./flashplayer-installer to run the installer. The installer will instruct you to shut down your browser(s).
Once the installation is complete, the plug-in will be installed in your Mozilla browser. To verify, choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser's menu.

To manually install the plug-in for Linux, copy the following files to your browser's plugins folder:

    libflashplayer.so
    flashplayer.xpt

Did you even untar it before trying to cd into the install_flash... directory? To untar it, just do:

    Code:
    tar -xzvf install_flash_player_7_linux.tar.gz
That should untar it and then you should be able to cd into the directory it made after unpacking it.

    Code:
cd install_flash_player_7_linux (or whatever the directory is called that it made)
The rest of the instructions are pretty much laid out by amznbert.

    Easy as pie:

    tar zxf install_flash_player_7_linux.tar.gz
    cd install_flash_player_7_linux
    ./flashplayer-installer
    cp libflashplayer.so ~/.firefox/plugins
    cp libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins
    cp flashplayer.xpt ~/.firefox/plugins
    cp flashplayer.xpt ~/.mozilla/plugins

If you don't have a .firefox directory, that's okay. Just do the .mozilla directory.
