    Unhappy FC4 sound problem :(



    i've had FC4 on this laptop i got off ebay for about a month. Since i have installed FC4 tell now, it has never been able to play sound.

    this is the screenshot of the soundcard detection window:


    when i go and press Test, it just failes to make a beep.
    i've tried looking for a driver at: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...ort_Intel.aspx

    but i can't find it

    can anyone please tell me what to do? im new to Linux, so please treat me like im Ralph Wigems

    Just some general guidelines - find your sound mixer - look at all the inputs outputs and switches - make sure the ones you need are enabled and turned up. Sometimes they wind up disabled or turned down in volume.

    Since you're new to Linux, you're probably running GNOME. I can't be more specific, as I'm not familiar with GNOME - I use KDE.

    do you have a package called gnome-audio installed? to see if you have, fire up the command line and type in 'which gnome-audio'. if its insalled, it'll tell you where its installed...but thats not important because you only need to find out if its installed or not.
    if you haven't, isntall it.
