    hello,

    i'm having a problem with mysql in my redhat enterprise 4 ES. each time i try the system tells mysql.sock is missin ...

    the message is given below ...


    [root@ds root]# mysql
    ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
    [root@ds root]# rpm -qa |grep mysql
    mod_auth_mysql-20030510-1.ent
    libdbi-dbd-mysql-0.6.5-5
    mysql-3.23.58-1
    php-mysql-4.3.2-8.ent
    mysql-devel-3.23.58-1
    [root@ds root]# service mysql restart
    mysql: unrecognized service
    [root@ds root]# service mysqld restart
    mysqld: unrecognized service


    pls help me ...

    MySql problem ..

    dear nafees


    pls do this . .

    download and install mysql-server-3.23.58-1.i386.rpm from http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i386.rpm.html

    and run -
    /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld start


    Your problem will be solved definitely.
