Newbie question about Linux and games
I am thinking about getting Linux. I know that an emulator is needed to run Windows applications on it, but if I use Wine or any other emulator, can I still play gmaes like Halo?
Also, is Linux more secure than Windows?
Thanks in advance if you answer my questions.

Hi - In general only a few of the more popular games run natively on Linux: Doom, Quake, Neverwinter Nights, Unreal Tournament. Wine will run some Windows applications, but not that many games. The Cedega Project is more what you're looking for, but even then, there's no guarantee that your favourite game will run as you expect.
Is Linux more secure than Windows. Yes, but only if you take the time to learn about its security features and switch them on. If you installed locks, bolts and electric fence around your house but left your Windows open and turned off the power ... Well, you get the idea.
There are quite a few games which run on Linux that I haven't mentioned, but I'll leave that to someone else, and there are already threads in here about that if you search around.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso
