Hard link count error - for find command

    Hello,

I have been getting this warning message everytime i run the find command:

"find: WARNING: Hard link count is wrong for .: this may be a bug in your filesystem driver."

Is there is a fix for this? Due to this warning...one of my application just quits thinking there is a problem with find.

i am using Redhat ES v4.0 (kernel 2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp)

    Please help

    Thank you
    Kiran

Hard links have a counter associated. This is used to know when is possible to delete a file. If the counter reference is >0 you can't delete the file because it is linked. If it is =0 then you can safely remove it.

The problem you have is mostly produce by any kind of HD corruption, maybe because a bad reboot or switch off or maybe because a cut in the power supplier.

You should run fsck in order to check your filesystem. fsck should fix this problem. If after this you encounter more problems it is possible that your hardware fails.

    Regards
