    Post Unofficial fedora faq and totem-xine/ player


    Take a look on this:

    I followed instrcutions for installing Xine:

    1. updated yum by installing the yum configuration suggested:

    su -
    cd /etc
    mv -f yum.conf yum.conf.bak
    wget http://www.fedorafaq.org/samples/yum.conf

    then

    rpm -Uvh http://www.fedorafaq.org/yum http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-5.rpm

    2. Installed gstreamer to play mp3 in my fedora rythmbox:
    su -
    yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly

    3. removed totem and installed totem-xine
    su -
    echo -e "remove totem\n install totem-xine libdvdcss libdvdnav\n run\n quit" | yum -y shell


    5. I installed the media player mozillla plugin and some codecs by running:
    su -
    yum install mplayerplug-in
    yum --enablerepo=atrpms install w32codec


    ...........
    what am I doing wrong .. I can not get totem to play movie dvd's.. it hangs every time I try to watch a movie.

    Any advise to fix it or get a best player for my FC5

    In my opinion, Totem sucks rocks.
    I like to use Mplayer or Xine.
