    Well not enitrely sure but in terms of the vncserver settings I found this guide to be useful...

    I SSH onto the machine using PuTTy to start the vncserver and then start the VNC viewer in listen mode and one thing I did was to untick the 'request shared session' option in the connection settings and it seems to work fine now...
