Intel DQ965GFEKR motherboard and Fedora core 6 install

Has anybody successfully installed Fedora core 6 on system with this motherboard? During the install it complains about not finding any hard disks and asks for device driver for the HD controller. I've tried the anaconda install option with “all-generic-ide” but if fails as well. I have 2 SATA disks installed (configured as IDE in BIOS) in the in the system –primary for WinXP and the 2nd for a Linux distribution. I’ve tried the Ubuntu, Mandriva-one-2007, SUSE 10.0 but they all fail to boot. Fedora still does not recognizes the ICH8DO SATA controller. Thanks

Unhappy Fedora Core 6 on Intel D102GGC2

Has anybody sucessfully installed FC6 on a system using the Intel D102GGC2 motherboard?

I also have a seagate SATA disk. The disk passes the detailed diagnostics that can be booted from a CD that comes with the drive.

The graphic mode install works fine, but the resulting system will not boot. The graphic mode boot display starts; I tell it to show details, which it does, and I can see various things being started and being checked off as OK, but this process never completes. Eventually it gets to something that won't start, and the display pauses until something times out and reports FAILED instead of OK.

After that, there is a rapid sequence of FAILED messages, interspersed with messages about disk IO errors, which rapidly scroll off the screen. Then the graphic-mode boot display crashes, and a text-mode display replaces it. There is no prompt. At this point, the text-mode display is corrupted. The only keyboard key that echoes anything is the G key. All other keys echo one or more spaces and/or line feeds.

try these options at "boot: " prompt
    Code:
    linux ide=nodma
    linux acpi=off
    linux acpi=off apm=off
    linux nofb
try setting your SATA controller (in the BIOS) to "compatibility mode" (or "legacy mode").

a few more things you can try. Check this link.

Compatibility mode has no effect. acpi=off results in crash with error message from the sata driver.

I have several packages to be updated, but my Package Update Program is blocked due a dependece package problem in FC6.

It could not find those packages below giving the folowing message when I run yum update:

Error: Missing Dependency: faad2 = 2.0-19.20050131.lvn6 is needed by package xmms-faad2
Error: Missing Dependency: lirc = 0.8.1-0.2.pre2.fc6 is needed by package lirc-devel

What can I do in this situation ?

these packages are available in Fedora Extras repo. did you enable it?
open /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-extras.repo file. remove '#' sign before 'baseurl' line and set enabled = 1.

Now what do you mean by unusable because I have a similar problem in which I installed Fedora 6 with no problem but the moment I got into the actual GUI after startup, the screen started flashing and everything seemed somewhat off. Any ideas?
