    how to list and kill unused httpd process through ps command.

    #ps aux | grep httpd | grep -v grep
    Afterwards use the kill command to kill the httpd processes.

    Generally they aren't unused.

    When apache starts it creates a number of child processes to handle connections. This is adjusted in the httpd.conf file for min/max spare processes. Adjust things in there, don't just go killing daemons it makes the underworld cranky.
