    No sound through speakers

I have just installed Fedora C6 on which previousley I had Ubuntu installed. I have sound through my headphones but no sound through my surround sound 5.1 speakers (which I use the optical connection with) They worked fine under ubuntu and I havent touched any cables. I have had a look in alsamixer and all seems fine under there with everything turned up to its maximum but no joy. Does anyone have any other ideas?

The funny thing is my headphones dont work in Ubuntu but they do in Fedora and I dont even use the sodding things anymore!

    regards

I've found that sometimes some of the switches on the mixer are turned off. Murphy's law states that one of those will be one that you need for sound. Turn 'em all on one at a time and see if that restores your sound.
