    X being locked

    Hi folks,

    FC6

Each day on starting FC6 X is locked by /tmp/.X0-lock. The PC only boots to runlevel3. I have to remove it as root before I can start X. Please advise how to remove it permanently not to be recreated on next boot. TIA

So do you want the server to boot up to runlevel 5?

If so edit /etc/inittab file and change:

    id:3:initdefault:

    to
    id:5:initdefault:

try rebooting and see if you go into runlevel 5 (GUI).
    Good Luck,

    Hi Skiboy,

    Tks for your advice.

If so edit /etc/inittab file and change:

    id:3:initdefault:

    to
    id:5:initdefault:

try rebooting and see if you go into runlevel 5 (GUI).
    $ cat /etc/inittab | grep id
    Code:
    id:5:initdefault:
    It is already there.
