    I want to install tarballs in FC6.Is the buils essentials like C+ etc..installed by default or do i have to install it manually ,if so what do i search for in yum ?

    Install yumex ("yum install yumex"). YUMEX is a GUI frontend for YUM that makes it easy for you to install packages. Some of the packages you need to install are gcc and gcc-c++ as well as other devel packages required for the specific packages you are trying to build from source.

    allright thanks.No i allready installed yumex.I just thought that unlike suse, development tools is there by default.But FC6 is much of an ubuntu..lol.

    Most distros don't install development tools by default. I normally just select the dev tools I want at install time, so they are ready for me to use right from the start.
