The short answer is go with whatever matches your distribution. If you have a 32-bit distribution installed, use i386/i486/i586/i686. If you have a 64-bit distribution installed use X86_64. The Core 2 Duo chip is not a PowerPC, so you don't want PPC. For more details on the naming conventions of CPUs, check here:
