Need help in choosing the best distro

    Hi,

I am a Linux newbie currently using Red Hat Linux 9 . Im having lots of problems with it since it is now an unsupported distro . Hence Ive decided to switch over to a different one .
I have got a copy of SuSe Linux 9.3 . Do you think it is a good distro and I should go ahead and install it ? . If not, then which distro would u recommend ?

    Thanks a lot

SuSe 9.3 is old too. Latest version is SuSe 10.2.
RedHat supports Fedora Core now and its Latest version is 6.
we can't tell you 'Which distro' will be best for you. check this thread and find out yourself.

We can't tell you which distro is best for you, but I can offer a little bit of advice: make sure you're trying the most recent version of the distribution you want to try. You've just moved from Redhat 9 (4 years old) to SuSE 9.3 (2 years old). It's a forward move, but not forward enough. The latest version of SuSE is openSuSE 10.2.

To keep up to date on what's the newest release, I recommend looking at the distro listing page on DistroWatch.com. They generally have a nice list of each release in chronological order so you can be sure you're trying out the latest and greatest.

As for what's best for you, I'd suggest reading the "Which Distro?" thread here:
