    Running rpms in fedora 6

    hi... i'm new to linux and thought of learning by installing fedora core 6.
    my pc is not connected to the internet... i downloaded some rpms from some sites for fedora 6 and tried running them in mine.. it says
    " unable to retrieve information" and ceases...

    is this a bug? or should i have internet to fix this ?

    Welcome to the LinuxForums.

    install rpm packages through 'rpm' command.
    rpm -ivh <package_name>
    check this tutorial on How to Install Softwares in Linux.
