    USB Device Problems

Okay I have serveral USB devices and the ones I use regularly are my maxtor external hard drive, usb keyboard and mouse, and my 512 mb sandisk flash drive. I recently switched over to Fedora 6 from Mandrake 2006 and liked most of what I've seen, however I have been having a problem with my USB devices that I have not experienced on mandrake. It seems that there is either a limit on how many USB devices I can have (which I doubt) or for some reason I cannot have my maxtor hard drive plugged in the sametime as my flash drive. Whenever I unplug my maxor hard drive everything is fine and it will find my flash drive and I can locate it in /dev, however if my maxtor hard drive is already plugged in it will not identify the flash drive at all. Now if I plug in my flash drive first and then the hard drive it can find all of them, but it will lose connection with the flash drive and not let me mount it. Any ideas to the source of the problem? I am somewhat new I don't know much except for casual linux desktop/server use.

Edit: Perhaps a problem with IRQ settings? I am not sure how linux deals with such but maybe a cause?

Running dmesg after you plug in an offending device might give some useful output. How to solve it will still remain a problem, but that should give you a starting point.

I know I shouldn't double post on any forum, but I do need some help. Does anybody have anything to offer?
