    locate command not working ???

    On my FC4 linux locate command not working,it gives follwing error.

    [root@anoop ~]# locate new.c
    warning: locate: could not open database: /var/lib/slocate/slocate.db: No such file or directory
    warning: You need to run the 'updatedb' command (as root) to create the database.
    Please edit /etc/updatedb.conf to enable the daily cron job.
    [root@anoop ~]#

    I modified updatedb.conf and did DAILY_UPDATE=yes,but still its not working.Any solution please ?????

    follow the instructions, run "updatedb" as root to build the locate database
