    problems with Asus P4p800 series

    I've read a lot of things on this board and theres a problem with linux kernel with SATA ICH5R chipset i'm trying to download a Slackware release forresolve SATA bugs and i'll tell ya later if it works or not. The problem is not fedora but asus chipset

    Um... Fedora is an RPM-based distro, of course it works with RPMs. Maybe you just don't know how to install them?
    Also, RPMs are by no means the only way to install software, although it's preferred on RPM-based distros (Fedora Core, Mandrake, SuSE, etc.). And you can always install from source code.

    It's very unlikely, but he could be right...
    Starting from RH8 their is an RPM lockup bug
