Printing Problems !!!!
OS: Red Hat 9
Hi
When printing from 0penOficce.org Writer Word Processor or 0penOficce.org Calc or also from Text Editor, and after after clicking on file-print, the sheet of paper passes through the printer without printing out anything.
It's very extrange cause when I print from Mozilla Navigator or any internet's information, it does it perfectly.
I have set up the printer step by step many times and made the default print-test and seems to be fine, but when intenting to print from openoffice doesn't work.
By the way my printer is a Epson LX 810 Dot Matrix Printer, and it is on the Linux- Printer
Configuration List but it isnot on the OpenOffice.org Printer Setup.
Does anyone know how to troubleshoot it and make it print ??
Any Ideas???

Are you getting your document Printed after the blank page?
If NOT try adding printer ( making Office recognise ur printer) by using OpenOffice's Printer Setup.

As root you should run the openoffice.org ./spadmin prog which resides wherever openoffice.org lurks on your pc.

Hi SunnyLearns,
Let me answer your question,
Are you getting your document Printed after the blank page?

No Im not.
The Document passes through the printer totaly blanked when printing from OpenOficce, have in mind, just from OpenOffice.
When making a print-test from Printer Configuration, it's fine.
When printing from Mozilla Web Browser any web page, it's also fine.
When printing a txt file from terminal with command "lpr" it's also fine, though it doesn't asumme some characters. But anyway, it prints with some errors.

I already tried it. But if you check on the OpenOffice's Printer Setup Manufactures List, The Epson LX810 isnot included. It talks about some generic printer, that I can't really figure it out.
If you have any idea about it, I will appreciate it.

Open a terminal window
Type su and enter root password when asked.
Type whereis openoffice
You should have it in opt/openoffice or summat like that.
Type cd pathtodirectory
Type ls to see if spadmin is there.
If it is type ./spadmin and hopefully it'll let you add your printer.
Post back if there's a prob.

PC Caf, did you not consider installing your printer using CUPS?
