    Problem selecting JDK for Java on Sun's site

    Hi,

    I am on Fedora core 5 32+ bit and I want to learn Java a bit on my own. As far as I know I need to download JDK from Sun site which also contains JRE but when I go to Sun site I really get confused as what I really need to go for. Can any one please tell me the answer more speciically as I am a novice. Thanks. Here is the page I go to:

    Sun Microsystems - Sun Developer Network (SDN)

    And then as I understand I click and expand the last link called Java SE on the left hand side which gives options like

    * Java SE (JDK) 6 Download
    * Java Accessibility Download
    * Java Access Bridge Download
    * JavaBeans Architecture Download
    * Java Plug-in Software for Windows XP Download
    * Java Web Start Software Download
    * Java Database Connectivity Technology Download
    * Java Advanced Imaging API Download
    * Java Authentication And Authorization Service Download
    * Java Communications API Download
    * Java Cryptography Extension Download
    * Java Data Objects Download
    * Java Help System Download

    etc..

    And then I select the very fist one called Java SE (JDK) 6 Download and this take me to a new page with options like

    JDK 6u1
    JDK 6u1 with Java EE
    JDK 6u1 with NetBeans 5.5.1

    etc and I then click on the Download button next to the first one called JDK 6u1 taking me to another page and giving a few tables with different operating systems name above them so I choose Linux Platform - Java(TM) SE Development Kit 6 Update 1 table and download the first one called Linux RPM in self-extracting file jdk-6u1-linux-i586-rpm.bin 57.87 MB

    Am I doing everything right here? Please guide me as I am a newbie and need a lot of help. Thanks a lot.
