    execute this
    Code:
    su -
    hdparm -I /dev/cdrom
does it recognize CD Drive and display correct info?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Linux is not recognizing CD Drive. check its cable.
execute 'hdparm -I /dev/hda' ( or sda, in case your disk is SATA ). check if hdparm is working correctly.
