    Skype for Red Hat Enterprise

    I am running Red Hat Enterprise and I'm trying to install Skype on it.
    I've tried every version on the Skype website but I keep getting the same message.

    Code:
    ./skype: error while loading shared libraries: libasound.so.2: cannot open share
    I got libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk.ia64.rpm (although I'm not sure it's the right one), and I get the following:
    Code:
    rpm -U libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk.ia64.rpm
    warning: libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk.ia64.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 26752624
    error: Failed dependencies:
            libalsa-data is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
            libc.so.6.1()(64bit) is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
            libc.so.6.1(GLIBC_2.2.2)(64bit) is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
            libc.so.6.1(GLIBC_2.2)(64bit) is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
            libc.so.6.1(GLIBC_2.3)(64bit) is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
            libdl.so.2(GLIBC_2.0)(64bit) is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
            libdl.so.2(GLIBC_2.1)(64bit) is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
            libm.so.6.1()(64bit) is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
            libm.so.6.1(GLIBC_2.2)(64bit) is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
            libpthread.so.0(GLIBC_2.2)(64bit) is needed by libalsa2-1.0.2-3mdk
    After that... I'm pretty much stuck.
    If you can suggest further steps / proper skype version, please do.

    Thanks!

    The rpm you tried to install is made for Mandrake (..mdk..).
    That's why you get so much dependencies.

    You might want to try this one: link.

    Oops, my bad (Just started using Linux ^_^").

    I got the rpm for RHE, and I do:

    Code:
    rpm -U alsa-lib-1.0.6-5.RHEL4.src.rpm
    Then, when I try to run ./skype I get:

    Code:
    ./skype: error while loading shared libraries: libasound.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Isn't there a way to force the installation? If libasound are libraries to manage sounds, I can do without it, I just need Skype to chat (I know, sounds weird..).
    Thanks.

    A few things, as mentioned above, your alsa-lib is for Mandrive Linux NOT Red Hat. Second, Which version of Red Hat are you running? Third what type of box are you running? The alsa rpm you got is for Itanium architecture. If you are running x-64 or a Pentium box then you will also have problems. Once you answer these you will get better answers to your question.
