Can't boot from installation CD-R, Pls HELP!!!
I'm running Red Hat 7.2 and I want to upgrade to Fedora but no matter what I try, I can not boot from the installation cd I burned nor can I boot from a floppy created from the diskboot.img file.
I tried 1) Burning the iso image to two types of cd-r's, even a professional grade 48x. No luck. The cd's did boot in my other computer though and I can even read the cd's after booting 7.2... so it's not the drive or cd. I inserted my 7.2 cd's in the machine and they did boot on the computer I want to upgrade... so it's not a Bios setup issue. I am burning the iso file correctly b/c I can see the expanded files/folders.
I tried 2) Creating a boot disk from the diskboot.img file. When I boot the machine it reads the floppy and says, "Boot Failed". I also tried a different program to create my boot disk from the image file... same thing.
Ok, so now I'm stuck... Does anybody know if there are Bios requirements for the boot process? I'm trying to install this on an AMD-K6 i586... not sure what Bios chips.
Please HELP!!! I want to join the Fedora fun but I'm stuck!
