Installing RHEL 4 Update 5 on DELL Inspiron 15R 3520 having configuration Intel Core i5 3rd Gen processor(3210), 4 Gb RAM,500 Gb HD in ATA mode but after boot from CD 1 its showing an error i.e. An error has occurred - no valid devices
were found on which to create new file systems. Please check yourhardware for the cause of this problem.
can anybody solve my problem and also I don't have other OS option. Install the RHEL 4 Update 5 only.

The problem is, that the laptop hardware is brandnew but the OS is from Mai 2007.
So this rhel4.5 doesnt know the chipset.
In theory and if you have bought a RedHat support contract, then there might be the possibility of a backport.
But in reality: Wont happen.
I guess RedHat would just point to the latest rhel6.3.
And imho: Rightly so. Rhel4.5 has reached End-Of-Life.
If you really have need for such an ancient OS, then your only chance is to run it in a VM.
What is your need/usecase? Maybe we can help there.

I don't hv RedHat support contract and want to install a monitoring software on RHEL4.5 coz it will be supported on it only.
Could you plz tell me wt is d difference between RHEL 4.5 and 5.5.

If that monitoring software supports only rhel4.5 then it is also deprecated.
What is the name of it?
FYI, there is CentOS, which is a free RedHat clone.
Basically RedHat without the commercial support.
My suggestion would be to use CentOS 6.3 and either look for an up-to-date version or replacement of that monitoring software.
Other than that: RedHat/CentOS are enterprise distributions, geared towards use on server hardware.
A laptop is maybe not the best environment for them.
Which brings me back to VMs :P
