techieMoe Super Moderantor Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Texas Posts: 9,259	I know that the Linux kernel has supported dual processors since at least version 2.4 (perhaps 2.2, the SMP version), so I doubt you'll have issues with a quad-core. It will just show up as 4 CPUs. If I'm not mistaken, symmetric multi-processing support has been included by default as of kernel 2.6. pavlo_7 Linux Enthusiast Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Maryland Posts: 517	CentOS 5 works well with quad-core processors, so latest RH and Fedora should work too. I don't know about earlier versions though.

rinjo Linux Newbie Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Mumbai/Pune, India Posts: 192	The 2.6 kernel supports SMP and this should be taking are of multi-processor systems. Why don't you give it a try and setup linux on your quad processor system. __________________ Linux Rocks!!!! Rinjo
