Hey All,

I've got a problem with HDTV overscan, and I'm hoping this can be solved through the OS. I'm using a GeForce 8800Gt on a Mitsubishi WD57734 57" DLP TV. After the help I got fixing GeForce driver problems and proper resolution settings, the computer automatically recognizes the resolution just fine at 1920*1080, but my TVs format settings through a DVI-HDMI (no DVI or VGA ports on my TV, just HDMI) are either "1080p Standard" or "1080p Reduce". Standard causes an overscan in the OS, while reduce windowboxes everything by an inch or more all the way around. What do I do?

In Windows, through the NVidia Control Panel I was able to literally pull the desktop environment to fit the screen, or reduce (depending on which format I was using) but I'm not sure if there's something like this in Linux.

Is there some sort of manual resolution I need to set it to, or something that adjusts the front and back porch settings of the screen?

Ya know, now that I think of it, a simpler question might be,"is there a NVidia control panel for linux"?

If this is the case then I might be able to manipulate the HDTV settings just like I can in Windows.

So any progress on this? I have Nvidia cards and my HDTV (1080P) has overscan. Works great in Windows though..
