if the wine package your wrote to the cdrom is an rpm package you can do

1) boot into redhat
2) copy the rpm package to your home folder
3) install it
Code:
su -
cd /home/your_login_name
rpm -i package_name.rpm

Hi !

Is there any particular reason for using such an obsolete distro? I dont think wine will work with RH 8. I would suggest you to install latest version of Fedora, 9 or CentOS. Both are RedHat based and free to download/install.

I completely agree with devils casper.

I used RedHat 8 and it was a great version of a great distro. Perhaps my favourite of all RedHat offerings. But it is years old, unsupported and very obsolete. You will do much better by installing the latest version of Fedora Core which will provide you with far less headaches...

Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire

Fedora 4 is pretty old too now, Fedora 9 is the latest release.
