Best linux for my pc

Hi friends,
I am new to Linux.I want to do programs in C, C++ and java and some basic Image processing applications.For this purposes, PLEASE suggest the best Linux among the following :
1. Red Hat 9
2. Red Hat Enterprise 5
3. Fedora core 6
4. Ubuntu

I wouldn't so much recommend a distro as recommend you stay away from Red Hat 9 and Fedora Core 6. Red Hat 9 is very old and is out of support. Fedora 6 is also out of date, with Fedora 9 being the latest.

Red Hat Enterprise is pretty good though remember the focus is on Enterprise. For programming and image processing you'll find almost any desktop focussed Linux will do the job.

Hae, I would recommend Fedora9 or Ubuntu gutsy or debian. Fedora escpecially comes hardy with most c/c++ tools support but you need what we call java-common and some other java tools. Fedora is also good when it comes to desktop applications development while Centos is very good for web applications development.
