RHEL3 installation error

Hi,
I m unable to install linux(RHLE3) in my PC
it is showing " no hard drive found.please add drive".But in the same system XP is working.My system configurations are

1.SATA 2 hard drive (160GB)
2. INTEL core 2 duo
3. mother board Mercury

This seems to be a pretty common error with RHEL3. Actually it can happen a lot...your hardware is too new for the distro to support it. If you can I'd update to RHEL5 which is the current release.

Well put it this way, it's more likely to be supported in RHEL5. SATA technology was still relatively new to the mainstream when RHEL3 was released so drivers were playing catchup. Most SATA controllers are supported now.
