Compiz question...

Hi All,

Does anyone know if it's possible to install and use Compiz without needing root access?
Can it be installed into a custom location and run from there, by the user?

Thanks.

You can install binaries into your home directory. Usually /home/$USER/bin is in your PATH variables so you can execute files in there. The trick is however that if it's not already installed system wide the chances are that xorg.conf has not been modified to include the composite extension so it might not work. I think possibly the later nVidia drivers don't need any custom xorg.conf options though.
