how to lock computer in Redhat Enterprise Linux Server 5.0

hai everyone!

Can anybody tell how to lock computer in RHEL 5.0

I'm assuming that you are not looged in as root and are logged in to the GUI?

In the 'Actions' menu item (going from memory here) there is an option to lock the screen (under Gnome). Click on that and the screen will be locked.

In KDE, I think there is a similar option, it may be under the logout screen.

If you are running as root, you can't lock the screen.

well what you can do is
create an empty file
/etc/nologin
it remains til the next reboot/shutdown is performed.
