view web pages via vncserver

Hello.

I have established a connection from vncviewer to vncserver through 5901. Both machines are running Fedora 11. When vncviewer is connected to the remote machine, the remote machine is unable to browse web pages.

I have checked firewall settings & router settings and all allow traffic through :80 on the remote machine. Remote machine is able to view web pages when vncserver is not running. Both machines are connected to my LAN and use the same gateway.

The remote machine is connected to my TV, so I can do silly stuff like watch bbc iPlayer, youtube and other pursuits of mindless ignorance. I can't be bothered to get off my backside and plug a mouse and keyboard into the remote machine and try and see the screen from 6ft to the side every time I want to damage my IQ, so I'm aiming to control it from a more horizontal alignment with my laptop.

I have tried to search for the answer, bit a search string for my particular problem yields hundreds of unrelated articles.

Any ideas?
