How to merge an existing linux ext2 partition with another

hI all,
I had linux 7.2 installed. very soon my harddisk ran out of space (100% full). Now whenever i boot in linux my system does not go in to any other runlevel except linux single. I have created an ext2 partition through partition magic pro through windows. But it does not allow to merge two linux partiiton. IS there any tool available in linux so that i can merge existing linux ext2 partition with another newly created ext2 partition without loosing any data from existing partition.

Amit

Re: How to merge an existing linux ext2 partition with anoth

i don't use ext2 for a long time now but maybe if you instal lvm you can try to extend the FS you want. You'll need to umount the FS tho so it depending of what FS you want to extend you may need to be in single user mode.

And /boot cannot be on top of LVM
