YUM can't connect to server

hi to all
i am a FC1 user i recently installed yum rpm package from this url
http://www.phy.duke.edu/~rgb/General...m_HOWTO-4.html
the instalation was clean when i run the yum command it is not able to connect to the servers this is what i get

[root@cf241 root]# yum install mplayer
Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: Red Hat Linux 1 - i386 - Base
retrygrab() failed for:
http://mirror.dulug.duke.edu/pub/yum...rs/header.info
Executing failover method
failover: out of servers to try
Error getting file http://mirror.dulug.duke.edu/pub/yum...rs/header.info
[Errno 4] IOError: HTTP Error 403: Forbidden

anybody pls help me out here
ps:i m in a university having a firewall and a proxy server

You need to find a different yum server. The one at Duke is obviously down. When you try to visit that link, you get a page not found.

Just find a different yum server (there are plenty).

yes i want to clarify one thing here
earlier in my yum.conf file the default url was from fedora redhat site
which was installed by default from fedora 1 cdrom
it was giving the same problem ie 404 forbidden then i removed the yum package and installed it again from the rpm available from duke site and the problem is still there
nevertheless i will try what u suggested and reply with the result very soon
