| rh9 or FC1 network install always fails
folks, i've trying to an HTTP install rh9 or FC1 using the floppy images but i'm not getting anywhere.
for the source install directory i would specify "/pub/redhat/linux/9/os/i386" for RedHat 9 or "/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386" for FC1.
now since i'm behind a proxy server i have to use the ip address of the source servers which is fine since the install progresses until it comes to getting the file "netinst2.img". both rh9 and FC1 fails although the file does exist! if i do an alt-f4 i would see what has happened. both rh9 and FC1 are looking at ".../disc1/base/inetinst2.img" directory. how this "disc1" directory got in there i don't know. i think that is the problem.
question is how else am i going to install either of them when floppy images fails and my CD drive is not working??? |
