It would seem that you are out of space on your root partition (/). Check this using 'df -h'.

It appears you are right. I was wondering if i could increase the linux parition by using parition magic but when i load into parition magic on my computer it says the entire disk is bad. I went on and downloaded the parition manager demo and it says my parition is invalid i know i have a few bad sectors on my harddisk. But there is only four. Any ideas

Have you ran fscdisk or scandisk? Partition Manager may not be able to read that file system thus it shows that message instead. I am not for sure if that's the message it would display or not since I have never used the software before.

You need at least 5-10 for installation but I recommend at least 15-20gb.
