RAID in Fedora Core 3 question..?

I recently setup RAID in Fedora Core 3 using the GUI installer, but I am having difficulty googling for documentation on the subject. It didn't even ask me what kind of RAID I wanted to setup during the install. Can someone please point me to a good resource on setting up RAID 1 (mirroring) in Fedora Core 3. Or if you can tell me what I need to do. I heard somewhere that I need something called Raid Tools, but I'd like some more information on this before making my next move. How can I even verify that the RAID was setup??? Yes I can see a hda1 and an hdc1 in the /dev directory, but is there another way? Oh...so many quesions, not enough resources!

Here are some more detials: I am using two Maxtor 5 gig drives (yes I know they are small but this is an educational experiment) on a P3 733mhz Micron PC with 350 + MB of ram.

P.s. The install went good and I am looking at a nice GNOME desktop. Your help is appreciated.

Fortunately, I went through alot of this yesterday.

Your new friend is the mdadm command.

cat /proc/mdstat for a status on your raid configuration.
Personalities : [raid1]
read_ahead 1024 sectors
md5 : active raid1 sdb5[1] sda5[0]
4200896 blocks [2/2] [UU]

md6 : active raid1 sdb6[1] sda6[0]
2104384 blocks [2/2] [UU]

md7 : active raid1 sdb7[1] sda7[0]
2104384 blocks [2/2] [UU]

md2 : active raid1 sdc7[1] sdd8[2] sde5[0]
1052160 blocks [2/2] [UU]

unused devices: none

From what I know, the UU means your drives are OK.

You will see something like U_ if one of the drives is offline, more info here http://unthought.net/Software-RAID.H...O-6.html#ss6.1

either 'man mdadm' or read here http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/linuxcommand....es/mdadm8.html for detailed information on mdadm.

It's pretty nifty once you bring your drive back online and re-initialize the partitions, it shows rebuild status in mdstat on a percentage bar until complete. Errors are supposed to show up in log/
